If you are a fan of the 60’s/70’s Bay Area Americana sound, get this receording- you’ll love it!
I’ve recently been expanding my collection along those lines and have been seeking out John Cipollina’s expansive work outside of Quicksilver Messenger Service. Terry & The Pirates is one such band comprised (at this time) by Terry Dolan, David Weber, Greg Douglass, and Hutch Hutchinson. Some of these musicians also form the band Copperhead, but that’s a story for another post.
This recording is taken from an FM broadcast, but with minimal DJ inturruption. Slight hiss but overall very nice mix/balance. The music continues the tone of psych-country set by more famous bands of the era, but is also a unique listen in itself. If you like Grateful Dead, QMS, The Byrds, etc. Terry and The Pirates is right up your alley. Take a listen to this, and you’ll be buying their albums, just like me. Enjoy!
