Ah, ‘Berlin-era’ Pop and Bowie. What a combination! While the latter recieves the most attention, Iggy’s side is no less excellent. Though not often recorded pristinely, I’m a big fan of this tour. Tapes like this are perfectly listenable and feature a great mix of Stooges and his contemporary solo work. I think most of the performances are riviting. A lot of the atmosphere doesn’t come across in the official live album, recorded just a few concerts later. I probably should issue the warning that David Bowie’s contributions are relatively minor. Anyone expecting him to lead the show is bound for disappointment. He plays piano and sings back-up. That’s it. This is firmly an Iggy Pop show. I did feel like listing Bowie as with, for the completists and because I think it adds texture to the important period. Enjoy!
