Where do I begin? No, this isn’t a great movie, and no, it isn’t part of the Eon-cannon films, It’s a more serious remake of Thunderball, and unfortunately inferior in most ways. Down to the theme and credits! Lani Hall’s song is classy, but bland. The 007 motif is an interesting substitute for the gun barrel sequence, and juxtaposing the credits over the opening scene does set the pace nicely though.
This movie gets a lot of flack, but it isn’t all bad. Personally, I think it’s fantastic to see old Connery back as Bond! Some parts are also so odd that it’s almost surreal. I can’t say the recommendation is total, but there is certainly worse.
