And so we come to the end of my little Zeppelin Retrospective. Their final tour definitely wasn’t the best, and there are some undeniable reasons why. Nicely, none of those issues really apply to this concert. It’s not the final concert, but unless you are a completest, this is a nice enough ending.

Besides that conditional recommendation, there’s a lot to enjoy from what they were trying to do with this tour. By scaling back what had become behemoth sets, the band hoped that by going ‘back-to-basics’, they could continue touring better. I’d say it could have worked. It’s also great to see “Train Kept a Rollin'” return to rotation, and the In Through The Out Door material get play.

Well, I enjoyed sharing some of my new Zeppelin discoveries. Hope you did too!

  1. Been having a Zepp couple of weeks, with the 33 ⅓ book on ZOZO and first watch of TSRTS for thirty years! This should round things out nicely.
    Thanks for sharing your resource.
(May I ask a favour? Was it 365MM that alerted me to Fauxcho, the Steely Dan Goucho alt versions?)

    1. Your comment made my morning! Glad to hear and happy to help! About ‘Fauxcho’, no that wasn’t me though. I have a few Steely Dan official records but no alternates I’m afraid. Must have been someone else.

  2. Well, that was an excellent and very generous concert. Two hours! Zepp in good form and (if Percy’s interactions with the audience are any indication) in a cheerful frame of mind. I love that he confuses Spanish and Italian thank-you!
Anyway, just wanted to let you know I enjoyed it a lot.
I’m not sure I’ll get through Cleveland 1977, the quality isn’t a good fit with my decrepit ears. 🙂

    1. I also judge the tone of the concert by banter with the crowd. Confusing the Spanish and Italian? Not going to lie, I would too. 😂 No explanation needed for abandoning Cleveland ‘77. My ears are relatively young and even I make that call from time to time!
