Always a fan of funk on the radio, and when I started buying CDs, one of the first was a budget compilation including “You Dropped a Bomb On Me”. The Gap Band’s tune is arguably their most famous, though I’d argue “Early In The Morning” is probably their best. Since then, I’ve picked up the odd record here and there; used and not #1 on my search list, but always apreciated. As much as I now deplore cheap label compilations, they have their time and place. If it weren’t for that deal, I wouldn’t have gotten deeper into some great bands like this.
