The short lived Lazenby era really did try to distinguish itself, none less so than in its music. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service‘s theme is instrumental, driving, and intense! The visuals stick to the old formula, but continue to push the dynamic nature of the effects. I think it really stands out and up.
Much more can be said about the different approach to the characters, pacing, and plotting. I think it is an interesting experiment and attempt to evolve the brand. For better or worse though, this would be George Lazenby’s only Bond film.
