Though I don’t listen to much pop music, I do enjoy some. Kylie is one of the few. This album finds her reworking songs from her catalogue with an orchestra. The results are overwelmingly excellent. Some of the original tracks may be forever burned into your ears (“Can’t Get You Out of My Head”), but these fresh takes are very enjoyable, and at times equal.
The album never comes off as inessential run-throughs. Each song is well chosen to shine differently in this light. The lounge/torch feel really does Kylie justice; her silky voice highlighted amongst the striped down and more organic soundscape. “Slow” is just completely perfect. There are a few region differences, Australia and Japan each getting a different bonus track. Both are good.
