Wow. Each time I hear this song, I can’t help but be drawn into the emotions. Totally relatable and perfectly executed. I’d heard some of the poppier earlier stuff (“Hot Fun in the Summertime”) on the oldies station first, but had mostly left it at that. Fortunately, based on the depth and sophistication of this track, I decided to delve further. Glad I did. There’s A Riot Goin’ On is a studio masterpiece, At The Fillmore East demonstrates the more varied and heavier live side, and a few other albums in, I am a fan. They’ve been on my list to get the rest of their albums down the line sooner than later.
