Maybe five years ago, I went crazy for Marc Almond. Over the course of a few weeks, I bought everything I could. One of the most interesting releases was A Virgin’s Tale, Volumes 1 & 2, a compilation of many of the Willing Sinners era b-sides, EP’s, and non-album tracks. Smack dab in the middle is the excellent song, “The Plague”.

Looking at the writing credits, I noticed the name Scott Walker, whom I’d heard of, but had never listened to. While I found out Almond is a master of covering songs, I was interested to see the original. To Youtube!

I still like Almond’s better, but among the other featured videos was the Walker song “The Seventh Seal”, based on the film of the same name. There, I became a fan.

Walker’s career isn’t as consistent, but does have many interesting facets. While I didn’t jump into his discography whole-heartedly like I did Almond’s, from sampling, I did decide to get a few albums; each different, but all brilliant.
